Assistant Principal - Phil's Surprise Party

I have been getting a lot of grief lately given the fact that I haven't updated my blog in like, two years! Well, here it is...

Two weeks ago, Tuesday night, I had picked my mom up and we were eating a quite dinner at my house when my phone rang. I didn't know the number but I picked up and instantly my stomach jumped. It was Dr. LeMaster from the Human Resources Department. She was calling to inform me that the Board had appointed me Assistant Principal at Welby and South Jordan Elementaries and that I could bring family and friends to the board meeting (in 40 minutes) to be recognized.  WOW.  Talk about a whirlwind few minutes.  I had to shower, call people, get myself together and drive to the District Office.  After it was over Phil's family, my mom, Xander and I went out for ice cream.  How else do you celebrate such a crazy night???

Starting the next day I packed up at Heartland, where I worked for three weeks, and started my new adventure.  I can't even begin to voice how excited our little family is. This will open many doors and is something we have worked toward for a few years now.  The following are pictures from the surprise party Phil threw for me.

Phil and I after a great evening.
Phil's amazing family, now mine too, minus Amanda and Dustin who left before pictures.
My awesome mom and dad who were lucky enough to be here to celebrate.
 My girls, love you all!
Mike with HIS girls.  Audra and I were so stinking cold we thought we could get warm if we snuggled. Didn't work too well!
The Quad - Edwards, Pikes, McCarthys, Gummows - Again, love you all!
This is my amazing mentor, teacher and friend Shelly.  She hired me as a teacher and taught me, most of all, how to put my love for the kids above everything I do and first and foremost at the forefront of every decision I make.  Love you, Shell!
Now the ride begins.  Long days and crazy schedules. Glad I have such a supportive husband and son who will be with me every step of the way.

It feels good to be back. I promise not to stray from the blogging world!  At least monthly updates are possible!

Still Here

We are still here are still as busy as ever. I plan to get back to my casual blogging...soon. I am still in school, will be done in April (yeah). Phil is still working extremely hard balancing his job, his calling, picking up my slack, playing basketball and just having fun being a dad. Xander, what can I say??? He is getting so grown up. I can't believe it.

Wishing Well

Does anyone know where I can find a wishing well, one that works?

My little guy is 8 months old today and I need him to slow down so I can enjoy the little toes, little fingers, cute toothless laughs, and raging teeth coming in cries.

As I held him last night, neither of us could sleep, I imagined back a few years to the quite, empty, boring life we had and was grateful and humbled.

Thanks, Xander, for making our lives full.

I love you more than words...Mommy.

What was I thinking?

Why did I think that going back to school was a good thing to do at this point in our lives?

We have a seven month old.

Phil is working two jobs.

My job is about to get MUCH harder.

We still have a dog and cat and house to take care of.

AND

I am going to Wyoming once a month, and in between writing papers and researching for assignments. This is what our kitchen table is for!!!!

Thanks goodness it is large.

Notice the large diet coke and the bowl of chocolate.

I may gain 2o lbs this year, or lose it due to stress.

Only time will tell.

The good news in, in about one year I will be qualified to be a school administrator, one of my dreams that will also allow Phil to go to school and not have to work two jobs.

Crawling

My baby is REALLY crawling.

Not scooting and rolling.
No more face planting and arms getting stuck.

He is up and going.

Way too quickly.

Oh, and by the way, it is SO cute!!!

Husbands...Gotta love em!

So, yesterday I had a School Community Council Meeting in Herriman. It caused us to change up our routine and gave Phil the awesome chance to spend the evening with Xander as I stayed at school ALL DAY. When I got home about 8:45 Phil and X were playing. I was interested to know how their evening had gone so I asked. Phil started spilling his guts about their trip to Costco for dog food, playing with Kya, having dinner, and taking a bath (all without me there). He proceeded to tell me Xander didn't eat much dinner so I inquired about what he fed X as Phil hasn't ever made the cereal before, I realize now that was a big mistake. We have two kinds of oatmeal, one plain and one with mixed fruit. I also had one half used jar of peas in the fridge. When I started piecing the story together I started to laugh and went to the fridge and opened up what was left of little X's dinner. Oh, can I say major gross. Phil had made fruit cereal and mixed peas into it. It looked disgusting and it smelled even worse. We got quite a laugh and we both realized that it was time for us to tackle a few of these jobs together for awhile so we were on the same page! I love Phil for trying and Xander for eating a little of his dinner!!!
